This was my first official animal carving! Originally the chunk of material made me think of a whale, then after cleaning up and grinding down the edges I decided to try for a dolphin instead. This little guy is small (23g), I did not want to get over ambitious with my first animal carving, but is adorable! You can see a little druzy pocket I kept on his back right behind his fin, I tried to preserve it as much as possible. Blue lace agate is a very hard material so this small carving took many, many hours but I loved every minute of it!
